Need Help Reaching Your Weight Goals? Here’s How Our Weight Management Can Help

 In General Information, Weight Management

If you’re struggling to reach your weight goals, you’re not alone. According to a study by Obesity Reviews, more than 42 percent of all adults around the globe are trying to lose weight at any given time, and another 23 percent are trying to maintain their weight. There are also a significant number of people who need to restore healthy weight in order to achieve overall health and wellness.

Unfortunately, the degree of success attained by all this dieting is not very encouraging. As reported in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, only about 20 percent of these dieters were able to lose weight and keep it off for more than a year. Statistics show that the more support a person has in implementing the lifestyle changes necessary for long-term weight loss, the more successful they will be.

At Community Clinic, however, we are committed to helping our patients beat the statistics and meet health goals that allow for longer, happier lives. People participating in our Weight Management Program can expect to receive the information and support that can help them avoid falling into the yo-yo dieting trap.

Community Clinic Weight Management

Rather than focusing on what your scale tells you every week, Community Clinic’s program emphasizes healthy eating habits, good nutrition and physical activity. For some people, this may mean a complete change of lifestyle, especially for those who may not fully understand the impact healthy eating can have on their lives.

The first part of our Weight Management Program calls for you to meet with one of our dietary experts. From this session, you’ll learn about how foods help and hinder a healthy lifestyle and weight.

Not only will you learn about the kinds of foods that increase overall wellness, but you’ll also be advised on portion sizes. This will work in tandem with your total calorie intake, which will be specific to your age, gender, and other factors.

The second professional you will see is a Nurse Case Manager. This individual helps to educate you on the management of any health conditions related to weight management needs such as hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia.

Once you have all these recommendations in place, it will be time for you to meet with your behavioral consultant. This expert will work with you to identify people in your life whom you can count on as part of your support network and can help you reach your weight loss goals/ restoration goals. This professional can also help you identify healthy coping skills for stress that can lead to unhealthy choices like a lack of physical activity and emotional eating.

Your behavioral consultant will also help you to identify any obstacles that might be in your path to prevent goal achievement. You can work with the consultant to plot out ways to overcome these barriers, so they don’t scuttle your efforts at losing weight.

At Community Clinic, our mission and our commitment are to help the people we serve live healthier, happier lives. Our Weight Management Program is one of the many ways we are bringing excellent healthcare to the people of Northwest Arkansas.
